¿A que hora puedo dejar a mi hijo/a en la escuela?
Los niños no deben llegar antes de las 8:15 a.m. porque no hay supervisión antes de esa hora. Los alumnos deben estar en la escuela a las 8:30 a.m. Las entradas a la escuela quedan al final de la calle Sierra donde están localizados los semáforos rojos y al final de la avenida Claremont.

¿Cuáles son los procedimientos para recoger a los niños de Kinder?
Las clases de Kinder terminan a las 11:50 a.m. Los niños de Kinder se recogen en el patio del Kinder. Ningún niño se puede ir de la escuela sin ser recogido por un padre o adulto autorizado. Si no recogen al niño puntualmente, tendrán que recogerlo en la oficina.

¿Dónde se estaciona?
No se puede estacionar sobre el lado sur de la calle Hazel. Este sitio está designado únicamente para desembarcar o recoger al alumno. Se puede estacionar sobre el lado norte de la calle Hazel, la calle Mira Vista y el estacionamiento de la avenida Claremont. Por favor no se estacione en el circulo; esta zona está reservada para maestros y empleados de la escuela.

¿Se pueden enviar bocadillos para el alumno?
Si se pueden enviar bocadillos para su hijo/a, siempre y cuando sean saludables. Se prohíben las sodas y los dulces. Los niños tienen solo 10 minutos para comer su bocadillo.

¿Cómo compro los boletos para el almuerzo?
Su hijo/a debe entregar el dinero para los boletos a su maestra. Se recomienda que compren boletos cinco a la vez, pero no más de 20. Los boletos cuestan $2.00 cada uno. **También hay un programa de costo reducido para los que califiquen.

¿Qué sucede si mi hijo/a llega tarde o está ausente?
Si su hijo/a llega tarde necesita presentarse en la oficina para recibir una nota de retraso. No se admiten niños a la clase si llegan tarde y no tienen la nota de retraso. Si su hijo/a esta ausente, necesita entregar a su maestra una nota explicando el motivo de su ausencia. También puede traer una nota del médico o llamar a la oficina al teléfono 231-1416

¿Qué hago si mi hija/o necesita salir temprano de clases?
El padre necesita presentarse en la oficina para confirmar la salida temprana. La oficina le comunica esto a la maestra y la maestra envía al alumno a la oficina. Por favor no vaya directamente al salón de su hijo/a.

¿Cómo puedo ayudar a la escuela?
Voluntarios son bienvenidos. La biblioteca esta organizada por padres voluntarios. Si usted está interesada/o comuníqueselo a la maestra de su hijo/a. También hay una lista para voluntarios por medio de la organización, PTA.

¿Qué es PTA y que hace esta organización?
La Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) de la escuela Mira Vista está formada de padres que desean crear un mejor ambiente escolar para los niños. La asociación recauda fondos para la escuela que se utilizan para paseos escolares, asambleas, mejoramiento de la escuela y otros eventos escolares. La solicitud para ser miembro del PTA se enviará a casa por medio de su hijo/a.

What is the School Uniform?

Pants: khaki, navy, or black pants (no cargo pants or jeans)

Shirts: Collared white or navy shirts (long and short sleeve) or turtlenecks

Any shoes, jackets are acceptable.

What time can I drop my child off at school?
Children should not arrive at school before 8:15am; there is no supervision before that. All students should be at school by 8:30 am. There are several entrances to the school; there are gates at the end of Sierra, on the Arlington @ Highland where you see the flashing red lights and at the end of Claremont Ave.

What are the pick-up procedures for Kindergarten?
Kindergarten ends at 11:50 am.
All Kindergarten students should be picked up from the Kindergarten yard. No student will be allowed to leave unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or care giver. All students not picked up on time will be escorted to the office, and can be picked-up there.

Where can we park?
The upper part of Hazel Ave (south bound), is a drop off and pickup zone only. You may park in the school parking lot below the school on Hazel but it may get quite congested between 8:15 and 8:40. RECOMMEDED: Street parking is available on Hazel Ave (north bound), Mira Vista Drive, Tuller and Sierra and there is also a parking lot at the end of Claremont Ave. Please do not parking in the circle, those spaces are for teachers and Staff members.

Can I pack a snack for my child?
Yes, but please only bring healthy foods. No soda or candy will be allowed. Snack period is only 10 minutes so please only bring what your child will be able to consume.

How do we purchase lunch tickets?
Your child’s teacher collects the money for lunch tickets. If at all possible you should send money for at least five lunches but no more than 20 at a time.

What happens when my child is late for school or is absent?
If your child is late you must sign them in at the office and get a tardy slip, no child will be admitted to class without one. If your child has been absent please send a note to the teacher upon return stating the reason for the absence, or you may turn in a doctor’s excuses or call the school 231-1416

What do I need to do if my child has to leave school early?
You will need to sign your child out of school. Please do not go to the classroom. Once you have signed your child out at the school office, the staff will notify the teacher and your child will be sent to the office.

How can I help out at school?
There is also room for volunteers. The library is run by parents; if you are interested please contact your child’s teacher. You can also help out in the classrooms. A list of volunteer opportunities will be made available by the PTA.

What is the PTA and what do they do?
Parents, Teachers Association of Mira Vista are made up of people who want to help make a better place for our children. The members help raise funds for our school, which in turn helps pay for study trips, school assemblies, school improvement and many other school events. If you would like to become a member forms will be sent home with your child.

Everyone is welcome to attend PTA meetings which are held every 1st Wednesday of the month from 6:30 – 8pm.
